The journey begins in Paro, where the valley floor is scattered with farmhouses and the airport runway is one of the most dramatic approaches in aviation. Your guide meets you here.
On the second morning, before sunrise, you leave for Tiger's Nest. The path takes two hours. The monastery clings to a cliff 900 metres above the valley. This early, you will likely have it to yourself.

The full width of western and central Bhutan in ten nights. The journey crosses the Dochula Pass — on clear days, you can see 108 chortens against the snow peaks of the eastern Himalaya — and descends into the Punakha valley.
Phobjikha comes in the fourth or fifth day. If travelling between October and February, the black-necked cranes will be here. They arrive from Tibet each autumn and winter in the wetlands beneath the Gangtey monastery.
